All Competition is Abitrary
I recently made an obnoxious comment to a friend about Division III sports (a former Division III athlete no less), about how it is hard to get into (emotionally speaking) Division III sports because, well, they aren't Division I sports.
After realizing my how obnoxious I had been, I felt pretty bad. But then I started to think about it. And I realized I was not only obnoxious, but just plain wrong.
Now, I'm a pretty competitive person. I like competing. Well, more accurately, I like winning.
But in general, I think being competitive is a very good thing. It is incredibly motiving. And assuming you can constantly find people to be competitive with, then it means you are always challenging yourself, always trying to be better.
