Climbing shoes

When I was applying for college I had few requirements. I wanted it to be small. I wanted it to be in a place that got cold enough so it would snow. I wanted skiing nearby. I wanted an active outdoor community on campus.

And last but not least, I wanted a school that had a climbing wall on campus. Check out my initial reaction to UPS if you don't believe me.

Colorado College met all these requirements, including the last one. When I was visiting I even went to the climbing wall and climbed. I was hooked.

Well, can you guess how many times I used the climbing wall while I was at CC (Fall 2002 to Spring 2007)?

You think about it for a second and decide.

I'll wait here.

Have you decided on a number?

I'll give you a little more time.

Okay, you better have a number by now.

Three. Three times. A climbing wall was one of my requirements for a school and I only used it three times. It gets worse! One of those times I wasn't even climbing! I was practicing how to do a wall flip.

Well, anyway, fast forward to yesterday, I decided to finally get around to start climbing. I went to this place called The Spot and signed up. I don't have climbing shoes, so I had to rent some.

I was way nervous. They had a slackline, so I started out walking on that. I figured I start with something I knew. And then I found an easy route and gave it a try. Let me tell you! My heart was racing and I was waaay scared. But it wasn't too bad! And then I did more! After about 5 routes my arms were dead. This is a great workout!

All day yesterday I was just in the greatest mood ever afterwards. I'm going to try and do this quite a bit more!

And then because it isn't very economical to rent shoes every time I had to get some shoes. Check 'em out!

How exciting!
