England, here I am!

Well, I am alive, don't you worry!

It is amazing how sometimes I just feel like I have absolutely no time. I mean, I am staying in a foreign city where I don't know anyone, I don't have regular internet access, and I don't really like doing touristy things. But still I feel like I have absolutely no time! I don't have time to read, or sleep, or eat or work out!

So, my family and I are officially done with the Coast to Coast, and my parents have already returned home. My dad is the only one that gets an offical "Coast to Coast badge" however. On the first day of the hike my left leg felt really tired, just completely zapped (that's the only way I can describe it) but it didn't hurt or anything, just felt dead tired. So I pushed on and my knee started hurting. But the end of the day I couldn't bend it without being in excrutiating pain. I don't know what the problem was at all, my dad figures a ligament strain. I walked another two days and decided I needed a rest. Fortunately enough we were using a company to transport our luggage from B&B to B&B, so I just got a ride from them. Unfortunately, there wasn't much to do in the small towns when I was getting rides so I kind of slowly went crazy. From there on I would take two days off and then hike a day. I think hiked the last 4 days pretty painfully. I was just so frustrated about not being able to walk! All in all I hiked 15 out of the 19 days of the hike. I have posted some Flickr photos if you want to see photos. It was wet, wet, wet! I haven't posted any in a while because the internet I have access to is so excrutiatingly slow.

After the hike we returned to London and did some sight seeing (I saw Big Ben!) and then my parents went home. I am now just hanging out. I have gone wandering around London every day. Yesterday, I went to the National Portrait Gallery and saw some old paintings. (To be honest with you, I am just not much of an art sort of guy. Don't get me wrong, I love beauty but more in terms of ideas and technology and solutions as opposed to paintings and sculptures. Though I would love someone to make a statue of me (this should surprise no one)!) I have also been to see the Changing of the Gaurd at Buckingham Palace, and lots of wandering around and looking at old things.

In the evenings I usually work on programming projects, and in the mornings I usually get up early to work with Dan on work stuff (7am my time is 11pm his time).

I will hopefully be traveling to France to visit Mike next Monday. There was a fire in the Chunnel (the train tunnel under the channel) last week so train travel to france has been disrupted. I am going to have to take a train to Dover, then a bus to the ferry, then a ferry to France, then a bus to the train, then a train to Paris and then finally a train to Granoble. Whew! I hope it works!

Other than that I am in good spirits and am enjoying my trip! I have decided I am really not much of a traveller, but I will save that for another post.

Oh and I am sorry I am so bad at correspondence, I have quite a few emails and messages to catch up on. I'll get to them eventually! I love you all!

I'm kind of jealous, except for the whole knee injury part.
