Goodbye 2010!
Ahhh.... 2010, what a year!
I think the years are starting to go by more quickly. I feel like I was graduating from Colorado College just a few days ago (for those of you who don't have the entire course of events of my life memorized, that was in 2006). Do you think when I'm in my 90s the years will go by in the blink of an eye? Probably not. The graph of the relative speed of the years probably looks more like a bell curve.
Anyway, a lot happened this year.
The biggest thing was obviously marrying Keri. I know we are just in the honeymoon phase and that one day we will grow to loathe and despise each other, but for right now, I have to be honest with you, things are pretty perfect. Today is our five month anniversary!
The second biggest change has been having to perform. You know, monetarily. When
you are driving around the country staying at friends' houses, you don't
have nearly as many expenses. Since September I've been paying the bills
around here. And I tell you, it has been pretty exhausting. While my line of
work is pretty great in terms of being able to find it (there's been a
recession going on?), it is a very broad and expanding field. The more I know, the better I
can be at my job, the more jobs I can do, and the better I can market myself.
Staying up to date with what the web development world is doing feels like a
full time job. You couple that with doing my actual jobs (that's right I
currently have more than one, ugh), doing for fun projects (which keep me excited
about the work), distracting entertaining Keri when she is home and
spending time with everyone else in my life,
you get a Benjamin that always feels like he should be doing something else. Still, being able to pay the rent and the bills is fulfilling. So, all in all this is a Good Thing.
However, if I sound like I am complaining, it's because I am. The sooner Keri can finish school, the better. That way I can get back to doing what I do best!
My biggest complaint about the year would have to be my continuing calf pain. Since August it has prevented me from being as active as I'd like, and couple that with being pretty tired from work, I've been quite sedentary the last 4 months. But I'm seeing a physical therapist now, and they're going to sort things out!
All in all it was a pretty great year. Years are hard to rank, but this one could probably compete with the best of them.

I don't think time will slow down again as we get older. In fact, I do think it will continue to get faster. The reason is that right now each year is 1/30th of my life. When I was 1, a year was 100% of my life. When I am 90 a year will be 1/90th of my life. So, in relative terms, each year becomes shorter and shorter relative to my time on earth. That's why it takes so long for Christmas to get here when we're 10 and why the years fly by as we get older.
At least that's what I think.
Oh, and 2010 was a good year for you guys.

Another thing: I'm glad you're posting things on TSP again! Those few weeks of no posts were rough! How else am I supposed to find these obscure, weird, yet very cool treasures the internet holds!
