I'll always remember...

I wrote this in Colorado before I left. I am now officially living in Portland again.

Well, my second to last roommate moved out on Thursday and I'm the next person to go. I feel like I'm maybe being a little too dramatic here but I can't help but think about how big of a change this next year is going to bring. I am supposed to be, you know, getting a job, choosing a career and getting organized. But that doesn't sound like any fun. So, I'm not going to! Anyway, that isn't the point of this post. The real point is that I am going to miss my life here in college. I keep thinking of the movie, _The Girl Next Door_. The movie is about making the most of high school and constantly asks what you will always remember. I keep saying to myself, "I will always remember..." and then filling in the blanks about college.

Well, here is my list of things that I will always remember from the last five years. If you don't know what I am talking about don't worry about it, it probably just means you weren't there.

  • The competition
  • Buffy nights
  • The sleep schedule
  • Blanca 106
  • Salsa nights
  • Slack lining for the catalyst
  • ORC training
  • The night in the Slocum Commons with the microphones
  • A Requiem for a Mike
  • Passing time on road trips
  • Extreme Reading
  • My freshman year roommate
  • Climbing on the tents
  • Math t-shirts
  • All my friends
  • Walk Through the Fire
  • Set

Notice that neither studying nor school is on this list. I am certain that I have missed things, but that is what comes to mind right now.

    i have been meaning to write a post like this for a long time. you beat me to it. but good choices, benj. i may add a few [these are post sophomore year, as i became close friends with most of you after then]:
    • lil benjamin
    • the high-fivers (keri and brittney, i'm still trying to post those pictures online...)
    • mj dance parties
    • laughing hysterically for too long because of that funny pillow in brittney and keri's room that i put on my head to look like a... uh... smurf
    • the trip to boca raton to partake in an international geek fest, and have a $100 meal along the way
    • my ponytail.
    • when tra put the weird pin thing on my face and i said "she nailed me in my sleep" and courtney replied "that can be such a fun surprise"
    • watching house and analyzing the hell out of it with katelin
    • tsp and its child, peterdot
    • starting to program at 2 in the afternoon and realizing at 4 in the morning that you've had to pee for the last 14 hours
    • singing the entire soundtrack to west side story when everyone was trying to watch dirty dancing II
    • the eternal supply of goldfish
    • the plan to have porn constantly running in the fishbowl for passers-by to see, though it never became more than a plan
    • drama
    • how tuesdays feel so empty and meaningless now

    sadly, yes. i've been wearing black for the last few days. apparently he didn't like the drive home (or the fact that i neglected him for the last few days. i'm a bad person). and i'm sorry for ruining the first one. if it had been the second one, i'd feel fine. but now, with this gordon thing, i'm just questioning what kind of person i really am... ;-)

    I agree with Peon and the Pirate. Those were some great times... at least the ones I was involved with. Additionally? d.note especially a man named hector the top ten runs sudoku late night arts exibitions Pride and prejudice surprised birthday parties 711 runs, although I hear I missed the glory days of that Wednesday night sleep overs Pineapple pizza. The only people I know who actually order this kind. I don't know if this counts, but I thoroughly enjoyed learning so much about computers as a result of hanging out with you all. Thanks! its been good.

    Portland? Dang, I thought you were sticking around Colorado Springs, so I didn't think to say goodbye.

    Given that most of my interaction with you (and y'all) has been through this site, I suppose it doesn't matter too much. Just keep TSP going, and maybe I'll see you when you come back to CC for a reunion or something.
