I'm falling apart guys

Well, the big news this week is that I'm officially on the market for a new body. Mine is giving out on me. My knee is still not well. My wrists hurt. And my back has now officially joined the revolt. I mean my back has been bad for a couple months now, but on Monday and Tuesday I was having trouble being at my computer for any amount of time longer than 20 minutes.

What is the crap?! I'm 25! I'm supposed to be in my prime here!

The other day I went to a store to look at ergonomic computer chairs. I went in there, and the sales guy was like, "I can show you expensive ones and cheap ones." My response was, "Show me the cheap one!" After trying it out (and it was comfy!) I asked how much it was, and the cheap one was 1,100$! 1,100$! That's a new computer.

So, while I did like the chair, I decided that I'm not quite that desperate. Yet. My strategy this week has been to get up often and move around. At least once every 2 hours. I'll wander around the apartment, or go on a walk, or go to the climbing gym.

And if you know me at all, you'll know the following statement means I'm desperate.

I went and did laps in the pool at the local community center. Now, I have always thought that swimming laps had to be about the stupidest thing ever. But I wanted to try and work out some muscles I don't normally, so I gave it a try. And it wasn't too bad. I swam for 15 minutes and was beat. When I got out of the pool my legs were all wobbly. I am definitely going to make a regular habit of it.

Though, while I was swimming I started thinking about Michael Phelps. I wonder if he likes swimming laps. I mean I understand that it is a good workout and that working out is fun, but I have a hard time believing anyone actually likes swimming back and forth in a pool. What do you think? Do you think when Michael is out of the pool, he's thinking, "Man! I just can't wait to get back in the water!" Because that is what it was like for me and slacklining, or playing frisbee. But I just can't believe someone would think that about swimming. Maybe it's just me.

Anyway, I'm tired of being injured and feeling like shit. Let's hope this starts to get better soon. The worst part of the whole thing is the doubt. "Is this going to make things worse?" "Is this going to make things better?" I want a simple set of instructions that are 100% guaranteed to make me feel better in a week. Is that too much to ask?

I think that is too much to ask...you spend hours each day slowly developing these ailments, so you can't expect them to go away in just one week.

I feel quite certain that many people actually do enjoy swimming. I am not one of them either. (Though many be if I knew how to swim, I might feel differently. It's a nice excuse to wear a swimsuit....)

Have you seen a chiropractor? Or something?

I had back and knee problems (from skiing) when I was 15 that went away when I started doing yoga. My mom taught me a few stretches that I did every night, and after a few months my back was fine.

When I have musculoskeletal pain now I just call Sandy. She's good at fixing those things.

And flychipmunk's totally wrong. If you just take some vicotin your problems will go away in, like, 30 minutes ($30/pill, email givemedrugsnow@hotmail.com with your order).

Well, I don't have a sister that is a trained masseuse!

And I don't do chiropractors. Though I really shouldn't say that without trying them out, I guess. I just don't know anyone that swears by chiropractors that doesn't go on a regular basis. I'm not interested in being fixed every week, I am interested in being fixed period. And I'm stubborn.

I'm considering yoga. Do you have to go to a yoga studio or can you do it by your lonesome?

You don't like chiropractors due to the possible necessity of repeat visits, but you're considering yoga? I hate to break it to you, Benj, but doing some yoga poses once won't help.
