Josie and the water glass

Ahhh! The joys of cat ownership!

I really don't want to write this post because it is only going to give Peter the wrong impression about cute, cuddly, adorable, purring, meowing, playing, wonderful, amazing, furry, soft, loving kitty cats!

But, I can't not write about it! Because, while yes, this does suck, it sort of makes me love our cat more. How about that for confusing?

So, my fiancé and I have a cat named Josie. And Josie is basically one of the cutest cats OF ALL TIME. We just love her and love her. However, Josie has...what shall we call it? One little flaw...

Josie loves to knock over glasses. Full ones. If a glass isn't full she isn't interested. But if the glass has liquid in it, man! Watch out. She'll get up from a nap to knock over a glass.

For the most part this isn't a big deal. Everyone that comes into contact with Josie on a day to day basis has been warned.

However, this weekend we had my Costa Rican host brother staying with us and we forgot to mention or cat's lovely little idiosyncrasies to him. And he was thirsty and wanted to check his email. And I was in the other room distracted by trying to help with Dan's computer's logicboard crapping out. And then he went to get some lunch in the kitchen leaving the glass all alone on the desk. When he went back into the bedroom I heard a worried "Josie, no!" (in a very adorable Spanish accent). I ran in to the bedroom and saw the desk and the laptop glistening next to Josie and the tipped over water glass.

It didn't take my college degree to figure out what had happened.

I immediately took the battery out and poured (to be a little dramatic) the water out from the keyboard. We're now currently drying it out with the space heater set on low. I'll let you know in 3 or 4 days when we try to turn it on again what the prognosis is.

We're hoping it's good news!

[If you want to read what Josie had to say about it, read her two tweets about it!]

This is a funny story, at least for those of us who didn't have water dumped on their computers. I can't believe I haven't seen video of this cat knocking over glasses yet.

That's a good idea Robert! We'll work on getting some footage (far away from all laptops of course)!

I have to say, that even just reading your title of this post put a smile on my face. I'm with Robert on this one...where is the video footage of this beloved cat?

PS-I am now officially following Josie on twitter...hehehe.

It works, it works, it works! We waited a whole week before trying to turn it on, and set up a drying station next to it for the first couple of days. I'm still paranoid that it's going to start smoking at any minute, but for now it works just fine! Yay! :)
