And what about the pre-Red Carpet build-up, with all of those blogs and fake news personalities posting their predictions, and what about the post-Oscar wrap-up?
Basically, I think that you should spend the rest of your life commenting on this post with Oscar-related news.

Are you going to post an entry and edit it, or post an entry and then make lots of comments?
(P.S. I do not dislike you, Benj! :P)

Greetings! Just turned the TV on, we are a little late, we had to pick up our incredibly cheap pizzas. Black Jack's for $5.
And Mike is here! Woo! Woo! Woo!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 01:16am UTC
We just saw the whole cast of Slumdog Millionaire. One of the kids was hoping to see Mylie Cyrus!
Oh and there was Zac Efron. Not looking as cute as he does in his movies. His hair was wet.
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 01:16am UTC
We just saw Mylie Cyrus, Mike says he heard she was a meanie face. We weren't impressed.
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 01:17am UTC
We just saw Amy Adams, Mike totally has a chance with her!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 01:24am UTC
Still on the red carpet. We haven't seen Leo or Brad Pitt, yet.
Oooh, Jack Black. He is fantastic! "Wrap it up?! Ooh some one more famous is walking up"
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 01:27am UTC
They are doing a little piece on making the oscars happen. This is boring. Show us some stars!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 01:28am UTC
More commercials! I am going to make some juice!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 01:35am UTC
We just saw Brad Pitt!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 01:38am UTC
Well, Hugh is no Billy Crystal, but he is doing pretty good!
Okay, he was just cracking up in the middle of his song. That is one sure way to my heart!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 01:38am UTC
Mike and Keri are eating this up!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 01:42am UTC
Okay, Merryl just showed us her guns! Maybe she is more fun than I have been giving her credit for all these years!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 01:46am UTC
Best supporting actress nominee is up. Tilda Swinton is competing for worst dressed, apparently.
I predicted Amy Adams. There she is!
They aren't showing clips. Whoever decided to make the Oscars more interesting by not doing clips made a mistake.
Amy is wearing a HUGE necklace.
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 01:49am UTC
Penelope won! Mike got it right, Keri and I didn't.
Keri: 0, Mike: 1, Me: 0
And that Penelope has quite the accent!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 01:54am UTC
First commercials. We are about to open up our candy. We have Oreos, Swedish Fish and Sour Punch straws!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 01:57am UTC
Tina Fey just got a bigger cheer than Steve Martin!
We have orginial screen play up next. Mike and I chose In Bruges. Keri chose Milk.
And it is Milk!
Keri: 1, Mike: 1, Me: 0.
Shucks.
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 02:02am UTC
Best adapted screenplay is up next!
Apparently Tina and Steve are hilarious! Who knew?
Damn it. Keri got it right with Slumdog Millionaire. I had Doubt and Mike had Frost/Nixon.
Keri: 2, Mike: 1, Me: 0
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 02:05am UTC
Jennifer Aniston and Jack Black. Interesting combo.
They just showed Angelina Jolie. Poor taste. Plus, who likes her?
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 02:07am UTC
Best animated feature. We all voted for Wall-E.
We got it! Jennifer Anniston tried to say Wall-E like Eva! She is so cute! What was Brad thinking?
Keri: 3, Mike: 2, Me: 1
I'm on the boards!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 02:10am UTC
Animated Short. Who has seen any of these!?
And the winner is... something I can't pronounce. Or remember. None of us got it.
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 02:13am UTC
"Domo Arrigato, Mr. Roboto"! That was great!
(The guy who one Animated short said it! In his speech!)
The Anonymous Poppy
23 February 2009 02:13am UTC
Hahaha! My roommates are watching in the other room, and I just heard my roommate Cat ask "So, is that someone that he actually knows??" regarding the winner for best animated short thanking Mr. Roboto.
(Does this violate the rules of live blogging? Should I not comment?)
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 02:15am UTC
So, the story behind the Oreos was that I thought Mike liked them a lot, but that was actually chips ahoy. I messed up.
Keri thinks Sour Punch Straws are better than Sour Patch Kids. I am conflicted. Sour Patch kids are sourer. But harder on your tongue.
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 02:18am UTC
Art Direction is up now. We all chose Benjamin Button. And we got it!
Keri: 4, Mike: 3, Me: 2
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 02:18am UTC
And Poppy, comment as much as you want!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 02:19am UTC
We are bored with this one. Sorry art direction guys. I'm sure you put in a lot of good work!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 02:20am UTC
Daniel Craig (James Bond!) keeps stumbling over his lines. It is making us love him more.
Costume design. Mike and I guessed The Duchess, keri guess Benjamin Button.
And the winner is...
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 02:22am UTC
The Duchess! Keri is going to fall and crumble like a weak tower made out of incredibly heavy but brittle bricks. Mwa hahahahah!
Keri: 4, Mike: 4, Me: 3
I'm planning on being the underdog that comes from behind.
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 02:24am UTC
Make up now! I guessed Benjamin Button, Keri guessed Benjamin Button, Mike guess Benjamin Button.
And we got it! I'm sticking in there!
Keri: 5, Mike: 5, Me: 4
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 02:29am UTC
The Mamma Mia girl! The Twilight boy! Apparently the Twilight boy is still pretending to be a vampire And the Mamma Mia is looking a little sickly.
Video montage of romance in 2008! The more video montages, the better!
It was fun! Commercials now. Stay tunned for an actor who has made more than 4 billlion dollars world wide. Who we think it is?
Leo? Brad?
Mike thinks Sam Jackson...
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 02:35am UTC
And it was Ben Stiller! And he has a big beard! I think it is fake though.
Cinematography is up.
Ron Howard is loving this skit!
Natalie Portman is actually not being painful!
Mike and Keri went for Slumdog, I went for The Dark Knight!
Crap. Falling behind more....
Keri: 6, Mike: 6, Me: 4
This party sucks.
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 02:43am UTC
Keri, Mike and I are reminiscing about the good ol' days. Back when I was Mike's wing man.
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 02:45am UTC
James Franco and Seth Rogen are Hilarious!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 02:48am UTC
Best live action short. I think pig is going to do it. I can feel it.
Shoot. Nope, something else. But James Franco butchered the guys name!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 02:53am UTC
Its Beyonce!!!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 02:55am UTC
A dance number! I am loving it! Mike is loving it! Keri thinks it is weird.
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 02:56am UTC
Zac and Vanessa are singing too!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 02:57am UTC
Keri and Mike now both not liking it. I am still loving it!
The Anonymous Poppy
23 February 2009 02:59am UTC
I heard the HSM song -- was it actually Zanessa? Awesome!
And you can't really ask Hugh to host the Oscars without letting him sing a little, amirite?
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 03:04am UTC
Best supporting actor is up. This is a biggie. Let's go Heath!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 03:05am UTC
Keri thinks Phillip is going to get it. She's wrong. Heath has it all the way.
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 03:06am UTC
Cuba told it like it is about Robert Downey Jr. getting nominated for Tropic Thunder. "Are you out of your mind?!" And Robert laughed!

23 February 2009 03:08am UTC
Heath got it!
Keri: 6, Mike: 7, Me: 5
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 03:15am UTC
Now Documentary is up. We all went for Man on Wire.
We don't like Bill Maher. He is talking too much.
We all got it!
Keri: 7, Mike: 8, Me: 6
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 03:18am UTC
Documentary short! We all chose 'Smile Pinki" based purely on the name! COme on guys, I can't catch up if we keep going for the same ones!
Keri: 8, Mike: 9, Me: 7
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 03:27am UTC
Just saw an action movies montage. It was alright. But not Will Smith is up!
Visual effects is up. Keri went for The Dark Knight, I went for Iron Man and Mike went for Benjamin Button. This is getting interesting!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 03:27am UTC
And Benjamin Button got it! To the shock of everyone!
Keri: 8, Mike: 10, Me: 7
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 03:29am UTC
Sound editing is next. My enemies chose Dark Knight. I chose Iron Man.
Son of a..
Keri: 9, Mike: 11, Me: 7
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 03:32am UTC
Mike is developing a lead!
Sound mixing is next. I went for the Dark Knight on this one. If it doesn't come through for me, I'm going to be bummed!
I'm bummed. Slumdog and Keri got it.
Keri: 10, Mike: 11, Me: 7
Querulous Quartermaster Dan
23 February 2009 03:34am UTC
How many does Slumdog have now?
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 03:35am UTC
Film editing now. I went for Dark Knight again.
Slumdog and Keri got it again!
Keri: 11, Mike: 11, Me: 7

Boatswain The Fool
23 February 2009 03:36am UTC
Dan: not as many as Benjamin. They guessed Benjamin Button on everything.
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 03:36am UTC
Keri keeps wanting me to mention Titanic. (because it won a lot of Oscars)
So...
Titanic!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 03:39am UTC
Slumdog has 4 so far. Dark Knight has 2. Benjamin Button has 3.
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 03:40am UTC
More commercials. So, before the Oscars this year they said they were changing things up hoping to increase the ratings. But they haven't performed the original song nominees and they haven't been showing clips about the best picture nominees, so it seems like all they did this year was take out the fun parts and leave the boring parts.
We want more of the stars and more of the movies!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 03:42am UTC
Mike just had some oreos! He is pretending he likes them so I don't like them. What a trooper!

Did I just head Zac Efron and Alicia Keys?? That's a mismatch if I ever heard of one.
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 03:54am UTC
They are playing bits for the best original score category. Keri and I went for Slumdog, and Mike made a poor choice and didn't go for Slumdog in a category it was nominated for.
Slumdog it is! Keri takes the lead!
Keri: 12, Mike: 11, Me: 8

Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 03:55am UTC
Poppy, I was quite confused about the matching as well. What happened to Vanessa?
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 03:56am UTC

Boatswain The Fool

Yeah, the singing penises have won more Oscars than the Dark Knight. You really shouldn't have picked that for so many.

23 February 2009 03:57am UTC

23 February 2009 03:58am UTC

The Anonymous Poppy
23 February 2009 03:59am UTC

Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 04:01am UTC
They are playing all the best song nominees now. We are all routing for "Jai Ho" for Slumdog. Keri and I unfortunately voted for the Wall-E song.
And Jai Ho got it!
Keri: 12, Mike: 12, Me: 8
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 04:02am UTC
That would be a whole lot of penises!
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 04:04am UTC
So, who are we all rooting for? Keri or Mike?
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 04:04am UTC
I have been doing this with Keri for the last 4 years and I lose to her every year.
I'm for Mike!
Boatswain The Fool

Is it the "In Memoriam" montage? I like those, too. But they seriously will never be more touching than the year that Walter Matthau died.
Dread Pirate Benjamin
23 February 2009 04:16am UTC
They are butchering this by not just doing a slideshow. They were flying in and out and showing Queen Latifa singing. We don't care about Queen Latifa signing. We want to see the faces and the names. Geez.

Dread Pirate Benjamin

Nate Silver didn't predict that!

The record is held by wrestling, which wins 1500 Oscars every year because it is so mack.

Slumdog won 7 of the 10 it was nominated for!

Since the show is wrapping up, I'd just like to say that this has basically been the best Oscars ever.

So, Keri wanted to get in on the Oscar action and did some dancing to the Oscar winning score from Slumdog Millionaire!
She doesn't dance very often! We're lucky to get it caught on tape!

Wow, that was a lot of fun! I'm sorry I missed out on all the live blogging action. I guess I was too busy actually watching the Oscars.
And for the record, Slumdog won 3 fewer Oscars than Titanic. Just wanted to point that out.

Boatswain The Fool

But, I will give Keri the Oscar for Dancing.
