Movies Coming Out Soon, June 2009 Edition
Just like last time (So far I have seen 3 of those 22 movies), movies coming out soon (or came out this month) that I want to see, ordered by my excitement for them.
Well, first, the most important movie of the summer and maybe of the whole year. It gets its own section because we are so excited about it:
(500) Days of Summer – Trailer – It has Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It is a musical. It looks awesome. Oh yeah, and there is no possible way I can be disappointed by it—I don't have high expectations for it at all!
On to everything else:
- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince – Trailer – The second must see movie of the summer. I don't even particularly likes these films but it is just so much fun to see how all the kids have grown up!
- Taking Woodstock – Trailer – Looks like fun. I've always been curious about Woodstock. Plus, it has Emile Hirsch who is probably my favorite up and coming actor (I've liked a lot of his movies).
- Inglorious Basterds – Trailer – Brad Pitt with a mustache. Need I say anything else?
- Away We Go – Trailer – It's gotten good reviews and has John Krasinksi. And is about choosing a place to raise your children, a topic I day dream a lot about!
- The Hangover – Trailer – This has gotten great word of mouth and looks kind of funny.
- Funny People – Trailer – Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen, some funny people indeed!
- Julie & Julia – Trailer – It has Amy Adams, and now (because of Mamma Mia) Meryl Streep.
- Paper Heart – Trailer – Michael Cera and a random girl from Knocked Up. Looks cute. And fun. I'm a sucker for stuff like this.
- Moon – Trailer – Looks really creepy.
- Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen – Trailer – I'm kind of conflicted. I didn't really like the first one. But I still want to see this one!
- Public Enemies – Trailer – Johnny Depp, Christian Bale. Depp hasn't really made an interesting movie in a while. Let's hope this one is good!
- Bandslam – Trailer – Silly teen flick. But I like silly teen flicks!
- I Love You, Beth Cooper – Trailer – Silly teen flick. But I like silly teen flicks!
- The Time Traveler's Wife – Trailer – I read the book and like Rachel McAdams. But really this film doesn't have much going for it.

Oops - that's the viral site. I think the trailer's on there somewhere, but you should watch this trailer first: http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/district9/

Oh, man. Bandslam. I've been getting increasingly excited about that ever since a silent (the sound was off in the theater) trailer for it was in front of The Jonas Brothers 3D Concert Experience. And I'm almost certain it's not going to be any good. Like, don't you get a feeling from the trailer that the bit where that kid knocks Vanessa's hat off is going to be the best moment in the whole thing? (Also, Aly Michalka is totally the poor man's Chelsea Staub, okay.)
Of this list, I am most excited about The Time Traveler's Wife. The book has some dedicated fans, though. They've been getting up in arms about some details, of course. I wonder if I should read the book before I see it. I'm not ashamed to admit I'm pretty much only interested because Ron Livingston is in it.

I am pretty much on board with all the movies on your list EXCEPT - Inglorious Bastards. Apparently it got horrible reviews and was even slammed at Sundance...or whatever film festival all the stars go to...also I am not really interested in Moon, not my kind of movie.
For Poppy, if you haven't read The Time Travelers Wife, I recommend seeing the movie first! It is one of those story lines that is beautiful but once you know what happens that's all you can think about. I would watch the movie first so you can really enjoy it, then go back and read the book to get all the details. Although over all I would say this one would be towards the top of my list, I love this story!

George: Yeah, I remember the first time I saw the trailer for District 9, when they panned up and showed the ship, I got a funny feeling in my stomach. In a good way. Like, 'holy cow!' It feels a little like Cloverfield though. And the more I learned about that one the less I got excited about it.
Poppy and Beca: I didn't really like the book. ☹
