My health report!
This summer my fiancé and I signed up for a life insurance policy (Apparently you can lock in a low rate when you are young and healthy!). As a part of the sign up process, the insurance company did a mini-physical where they looked at my weight, blood and urine to see if I was going to cost them millions of dollars.
It was actually pretty funny, both Keri and I are pretty skinny little things and we were in danger of not weighing enough to get the good rate. In fact, we stocked up on water in the hour before the meeting to appear heavier!
Anyway, some of the results:
- My Cholesterol is 135. That's real low! Woo!
- My HDL Cholesterol is 40. That's real low, but you want your HDL to be real high. My 40 is nothing compared to my fiancé's 78. In fact being under 40 (not quite there!) is a risk factor for heart problems. What the crap!?
- My Serum HIV Antibody Status is non-reactive. Woo! No HIV or AIDS! (This wasn't a possibility we were concerned with)
- I was negative for cocaine, nicotine, and diuretics!
- My blood pressure was 108/78. That isn't spectacular (I'd like to have one better than my fiancé's 88/60 (which honestly sounds like her heart isn't even working)). I took it again recently and it has gotten better.
- My pulse was 48 BPM. Which is not as low as it can get (if I am truly resting and doing nothing it is in the low 40s), but is still pretty good!
So, apparently I have to figure out how to raise my HDL. All my mom would tell my is that moderate consumption of alcohol is one way to raise it. Thanks mom! Any suggestions that I'm actually going to do?
I just looked it up and another way to raise it is to exercise a lot. Well, I'm working on it!

So good to hear you aren't going to cost the insurance company a million dollars!

I can't believe you have a $1,000,000 life insurance policy. Am I the beneficiary? Will you please go sky diving? :)

Yes, thank you mother. Thank you for pointing out that I have no idea what I am talking about.
(and for the record the policy is for $150,000. Honestly, I sort of thought I was priceless...)
