National Parks and Monuments
I have been on a road trip with my mom this last week visiting the sites to see in the old west. Specifically The Badlands, Devil's Tower, the Corn Palace and Yellowstone National Park (photos haven't been uploaded yet).
And I have to tell you, these places are awesome.
Well, the Corn Palace wasn't awesome. But the other places are awesome.
Well, The Badlands were alright. But Yellowstone and Devil's Tower are most definitely awesome.
With Yellowstone (which has been a national park since 1871) I feel like it is one of the few places you get to see what the west was like before we came in and killed all the animals and logged all the forests. It is pretty amazing. I like to imagine what it would be like to be the first person to wander into that place, not knowing what you are going to find.
Devil's Tower is amazing in a different sort of way because it is just so darn unique and so darn big.
But I have a major complaint about all these places: the tourists. There are so many other people. These places are so amazing but you lose so much of the impact with all the other people there. I wish I could have them all to myself! Is that too much to ask? Gah!
