oops! my bad!

Over Christmas break my parents and I were wandering around Powell's when my dad pointed out a used book that he wanted to get. My mother told him that his birthday was coming up and that he shouldn't get it. It was the only one left so my father was worried about leaving it there for some other scavenger to buy. But he was convinced and left it there. Then as we moved on I "had to go look at the Harry Potter books" and looped back, got the book, and bought it. Then with it stashed under my coat (I probably looked like I was stealing it) I rejoined my parents and we left. We were going to dinner after the Powell's visit but I didn't want to have the book under my coat the whole time so I stashed it in a pocket behind one of the seats in the car.

And then promptly forgot the whole experience.

My dad's birthday was last Wednesday. I am sure as he was opening up his presents he was expecting to get the book, but it wasn't there! I called him today and he was telling me how his fears had come true. He went to Powell's this morning and somebody else had bought the book already!

Oh!

So I told him to go out to the car and look in the back seat. It was my own special form of wrapping it. He was quite surprised! I like it when things work out like that.

That is SO funny! I love it! That is better than if I had remembered it in the first place. I THOUGHT there was something we were forgetting but I could not imagine what it was! Nice touch that Greg went back looking for it and was disappointed. We did good!
