Paradise
Paradise is attainable, my curious comrades. And not only that, I can tell you where it is! Paradise is Portland, OR. Well, really we should be specific, here. Paradise is my home in Portland, OR.
Last Saturday after driving all day and all night (with Keri, Mike and Omer) we arrived, and what were we greeted with? Sunny skies, a plush, soft, green backyard and a neighborhood full of neighbors doing things outside.
Let me diverge a little bit. If you were to ask me about the things I miss most from Colorado College, somewhere at the top of the list would be the college dorms. I loved living in the dorms. I loved it. There were always people around. But when you got tired of people you could go back to your room, your little personal oasis where you could watch a movie whenever you wanted to, or sit around naked reading if you wanted to, or invite friends over if you wanted. This ability to be extroverted or introverted whenever you wanted to (or when you should have been studying) was AMAZING!
Well, the neighborhood here is that same way. There are always people out and about. Right now as I speak there are people in my front yard throwing around a baseball.
Though, it really is only like this during the summers. The winters are too wet. But let me tell you, when Portland summers are acting normal (unlike last summer's rain through June) it has the best weather of anywhere. Now, Colorado does have sunny skies 330 days a year, but the summers are hot. Not that I am complaining, I love Colorado summers, but they got nothing on Portland summers.
Already, (and school is still in session) I have played some badminton every day for the last three days.
But this place gets even better! My house has this uncanny ability to always be cooler inside than the weather is outside (which isn't all that great a feature in the winter) so when you get hot, you can just head inside and cool down.
And even better! We have this water filter thing in the fridge that has the best water in the world. Seriously, the whole world. Just ask my neighbor, Ben.
So anyway, this place is just the greatest! Woo!
Now if only my bonnie didn't live over the mountains. ☹

According to truth, you're wrong.

Is this something from your useless comparative literature major? Don't compare me to anything, Omer!
I AM TRUTH.

No, actually. This is something from my useful comparative literature major. I stopped doing the useless one pretty quickly. Anyway, truth refers to the things that are the case. Like, you know, your claim, "I AM TRUTH" is something that is not true. But, if you had said, "I WAS WRONG WHEN I SAID THAT PORTLAND IS PARADISE," then you would have said something true.

What I'm trying to say is that the truth is what happens when you say something long using only capital letters.

"My house has this uncanny ability to always be cooler inside than the weather is outside"
You mean air conditioning?

We don't have air conditioning!
And if we did I wouldn't turn it on. I hate air conditioning with a burning passion. Something about air conditioning always makes me feel cold. Not cool, I think cool is the goal, but if air conditioning is on I want to go get my down jacket. And air conditioning has a very distinct smell. I can't put my finger on it but I don't like it. Basically, air conditioning makes me feel uncomfortable and sick. Yuck.

that sounds nice. it's hot as hell here. and humid. and all of the "green" is actually a bit more brown or gray because of all the soot from the zillions of cars that people drive because they think it makes them look powerful. i hate cars.
maybe i'll go to portland for a bit.

wait, first of all, are you guys still here??? and if so, then how come you never returned my call on Wednesday?? We might have to be in a fight if you are still here and in summer paradise without so much as inviting me over (I agree, your house has the best water ever, how do you do it?).
second, I whole-heartedly agree that Portland is paradise. And I have to even say that I slightly prefer the wet winters. They are just so mild, and I can deal with rain a lot better than I can deal with extreme cold.
