RIP Hank

I feel like I should give Hank more of a proper send of than just this tweet.

I first met Hank 3 1/2 years ago my junior year of College. I was nervous about buying him. He was a lot of money. But let me tell you, I have regretted nothing about Hank ever since. (Well, except for the 5 times I dropped him, and when I changed his Apple color from White to Blue forever making his screen seem like it was about to fall off.)

Hank has been with me through a lot. Heartbreaks, depressions, graduations, jobs, unemployment.

He has always supported me, and never complained about things I asked him to do. (Though he would have an audible 'whine' quite often).

I have created a Flickr Slideshow if you want to see some of our fond memories.

[I would have made an actual slideshow with Music, but the only means I had of doing that was Hank and the only access I currently have to most of my photos is Hank.]

As far as data loss, don't worry about that I have practically everything except for the last two weeks of work backed up, but I should be able to get that off of Hank when I get back home and get a new Computer.

The following is a list of the things that suck about Hank dying:

  1. I have lost a dear friend.
  2. I can't charge my iPod. And I was planning on using my iPod to entertain my self during the 9 hour flight across the Atlantic.
  3. I can't program. What the hell else am I supposed to do here in England? I suppose this right here is the reason why I am not a traveler.
  4. I have to use Windows. I am writing this post in an Internet cafe on a Windows machine. Luckily they don't have good permissions set up and I was able to install Firefox!

The following is a list of things that are upsides to his death:

  1. I get a new computer.

Seriously, this last week was flying bye. I was programming non-stop. Well, last night the time crawled to a stand still. Event when I finally did go to sleep. As I was drifting off my mind started to wonder about CouchDB and javascript and whether the Map/Reduce paradigm would work for a project I was working on and all of a sudden I was wide awake again, and I got up to test my theory, but Hank was still broken. I could test no theory!

I can't even turn to my iPod as entertainment now becuase I can't charge my iPod. Oh My God!

Anyway, I digres. Thanks for all the well-wishing everyone.

Hank, We'll miss you!
