Say hello to ‘Amadeus’
Well, after a month of borrowing my neighbors guitar, I have made the plunge. I got my own:
While driving home to Portland at the end of April I decided in anticipation of the Talent Show at the Blanca 106 reunion (in July!) that I was going to attempt to learn to play a song on the guitar. And while I still can't really play any songs, I have been having a lot of fun learning to play the guitar.
Learning to play an instrument has changed the way I listen to music. Now every time I hear a song I like, I think, "How did they do that?" If you look at my last.fm play counts you can see that I start listening to a lot more music (particularly: Jewel; Peter, Paul and Mary; and Marcy Playground) right around the beginning of May. (Unfortunately last.fm kind of blows and doesn't let you chart your overall listening over a given time period, as far as I can tell. So you can't actually see how much I've been listening).
I'm pretty excited about this, let's hope I stick with it and it doesn't go by the wayside like my knitting did.
Oh, and I named my guitar Amadeus. Because like Mozart my guitar is going to make some sweet sweet music.

I'd just like to briefly interject a non-snake comment: Since this is the top story, every time I come to tsp, I get that Falco song stuck in my head. I'm surprised you can call your guitar "Amadeus" (an awesome name, btw) without constantly requesting that it rock you.
