    In no particular order:
    1. The last episode of season 4 of Sex and The City. "you take a napa, you don't move to napa!" Mr. Big is just the greatest!
    2. The episode of buffy the vampire slayer that we watched last week. A high schooler has a jacket that makes women fall madly in love with him. First it is Dawn (Buffy's sister) and then one by one they all fall. The greatest is when Willow (a lesbian) gets in on it.
    3. The breakfast club episode of the first season of Dawson's Creek. Pacey, played by Joshua Jackson, is talking about the movie The Breakfast Club and trying to remember who was in it. Emilio Esteves was in it, and Pacey exclaims "And he was in those mighty ducks movies, those movies were tight!" Pacey is just the greatest!
    4. The friends episode, the one where Ross finds out. Ross and Rachel get in a fight and he storms out of the coffee house and she locks all the locks behind him. He comes back and it is raining. She has trouble opening the door. Then she figures it out and what a great kiss!
    5. The buffy episode where Spike is on the train wielding the pipe! Spike is so cool!
    6. The Sex and the City episode where Samantha is going through Chemotherapy (sp?) and she buzzes her head and Smith does too. Because Smith is _the_ perfect man. Well, except for me.

Okay, without looking at yours (lest I be biased), here is my list:
    1) "Once More With Feeling" - The Buffy Musical... I don't think that I can really describe this episode. It's just amazing, and I can't believe they did it in a week!
    2) "The Betrayal" - The backwards episode of Seinfeld, in which Elaine, George, and Jerry go to India to see a wedding, but it turns out that Elaine has slept with the groom. The whole idea of a backwards episode is brilliant...
    3) The pilot of "Alias," which is like a crazy, unpredictable spy movie ... I'm sorry if you're not familiar with this one, Benjamin.
    4) "The Opposite" - The episode of Seinfeld in which Jerry is Even Steven, since everything ends up working out for him; George decides to live his life doing the exact opposite of his first inclination; and, Elaine's love of candy gets her in trouble. What puts this one in the Scruffy Six for me, I think, is that George's theory actually works.
    5) "Treehouse of Horror V" - the Simpson's episode in which Bart has the Shinning; Homer goes back in time via a toaster; and, a tasty new mystery meat appears at school. I don't know why, but I absolutely love the idea of going back in time using a toaster.
    6) I'm sorry again, Benjamin, but there's this episode of some comedy show in Israel, in which one of the characters eats the screen like a Pacman, and... though I tried to think of another one to put into the top six... I just enjoyed it so much more than any of the others.

Going over my list, I noticed that I really like episodes from shows in which I don't identify much with any of the characters... I wonder if that's just because I'm a terrible person, or if there's some deeper, more insidious meaning behind it.

I don't know six episodes of any TV series! Not fair.

    1. DARK ANGEL-"Red(?)" The episode where Max has to save her best friend Cindy from a group of supersolders holding her hostage. Cindy finds out that Max is a genetically enhanced killing machine--and it comes fully loaded with an explosive emotional punch!
2.FRIENDS--the episode where Rachel calls Ross drunk, and leaves him a message telling him that she's over him. Then they kiss at the end of the episode (this is the first time they get together...emotional fireworks and many tears of joy!). Benji put this one, too.
    3. CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM--The episode where Larry David tells his friend (Hugh), "So, I saw you son's penis the other day...pretty impressive stuff." Then, Hugh gets really upset, even after Larry relentlessly explains it was supposed to be a compliment. After a while, Larry says in a slow, drawn out way, "Fuck HUUUUGH". And, he proceeds to say this over and over again until he wins the argument. Very Funny! This episode was a laugh fest, though I wouldn't recommend the show as a whole.
    4. LONESOME DOVE (mini-series)--The one where Gus (a cowboy played by the occassionally brilliant Robert Duvall) tells Ned who his real father is. ooooo, good stuff.
    5. THE SIMPSONS--The one with the guy who thinks he's Michael Jackson, and MJ impersonater and Bart sing "Happy Birthday, Lisa".
    6. The Buffy Musical!!! The song "I'll Never Tell" sealed the deal.

-The Simpsons episode about the nuclear plant's softball tournament when Mr. Burns hires the professional baseball players.
-The sex and the city episode that takes place the night Berger broke up with her and they went to the club called "Bed."
-The last episode of the third season of Six Feet Under. the one where we find out that lisa died-this one might just be because i saw it last week.
-The Queer as Folk episode where Brian surprises Justin at his prom.
-The Gilligans Island episode where Gilligan gets struck by lightning, causing his bowling ball to get stuck to him, and then the professor makes him invisible.
-The Saved by the Bell episode where Jessie gets addicted to caffeine pills..."I'm so excited, I'm so excited, I'm so..scared" classic.

-On Wagon Train when Flint McCullough, the scout, who I had a crush on, was always getting away from the wagons on a scouting expedition and falling in love with a girl and then the girl would die by the end of the hour.
--The Ed Sullivan Show with the first US performance of the Beatles.
--I Love Lucy before my family had a TV and I would stay at my friend Barbara's house to watch it before I had to go home to go to bed.
--The Peach Bowl Football Game when Tork Hook intercepted a pass for the game winning play. Nathan and I were watching it. Tork Hook was the son of my high school crush.
--Episodes of The Cosby Show--I can't remember a particular one, but there were really good ones. I watched these shows with Nathan and Benjamin, but Benjamin was young to really enjoy them.

First of all, these are hard choices to make! I decided to limit myself to one episode per series.

    1. THE X-FILES -- "The Amazing Maleeni."
I _love_ slight-of-hand magic, misdirection in general, and especially overly complicated heist plots. (This episode wins out over Jose Chung's From Outer Space, The Unusual Suspects, Mind's Eye, Folie a Deux, Bad Blood, Detour, and every other episode in seasons 6 and 7, which were so awesome!)
    2. BUFFY -- "Restless"
The Cheese stands alone. (This episode wins out over "Passion, Halloween, I Only Have Eyes For You, Something Blue, Who Are You, Band Candy, Lover's Walk, The Wish, Doppelgangland, Superstar, Hush, and of course Once More With Feeling.)
    3. THE SIMPSONS -- the episode where they go the beach for vacation and Lisa didn't pack anything so she gets to reinvent herself as cool
I like this episode because I always liked to imagine that I could do something like that. (This ep wins out over the Michael Jackson one that Farluffo mentioned.)
    4. DARK ANGEL -- "Blah Blah Woof Woof"
Call me a hopeful romantic, but I adore the dream sequence where Max and Logan share a dance amid the impression of floating red blood cells. (This ep wins out over the entire rest of the first season. I didn't see very much of the second season.)
    5. INVADER ZIM -- the first episode
    "I put out the fires."
    "You made them worse!"
    "Worse - or better?"
    6. MDs -- "Time of Death"
The first episode of a show that was cancelled far before its time. The two main characters do an "autopsy" on a live patient to remove a tumor because she's uninsured and can't afford surgery.

Sorry if you don't know Invader Zim or MDs, Benji (or Dark Angel, although I figured it was okay because Farluffo mentioned it) -- they're just too good not to acknowledge. I did manage to avoid Angel and Firefly!

Oh, and the Ross/Rachel kiss that Benji and Farluffo mentioned is the most amazing kiss of tv EVER.

Oh, and Benjamin, Nathan and I staying up several evenings in a row to watch the serial Lonesome Dove. Benj, I think you were about 6 years old. I don't know what I was thinking. But I am so glad we did.

1- the subliminal messaging saved by the bell
2- the big chess episode in saved by the bell where screech has his beret stolen by valley and zack dresses up like the russian kid.
3- oh geez, i almost forgot the rockumentary: zack is dreaming and you go through the rise and fall of the bad zack attack. oh man. lisa ends up on american gladiators, kelly is an actress in a nun outfit, and screech went to the "high geek" to find the meaning of life--a cheerleader named linda!
4-when the gang (saved by the bell) is in the mall to get u2 (?) concert tickets and screech gets out of line. they then find a bag of money and are followed around by scary "gangsters" it is the best!!!
5-when slater bets zack he can't ditch for ditch day and he does. jessie falls for another boy (a creepy environmental kid.)
6-and finally, the friends episode (i don't know which it is because i usually don't watch friends) when you are watching monica's home videos of the prom and you see them all in high school-monica is fat and rachel has a honker for a nose!!!)

1- The first episode ever of Alias. It's just like a good action movie.

2- The Family Guy episode in which Lois inherits her aunt's mansion, the servants sing the "this house is freakin' sweet" song and Peter finds pictures of the Presidential whore house that the mansion once was.

3- The Gargoyles episode where a foolish sorcerer is trained to be a powerful magician by his post-training future self and Goliath has to defeat the post-training trained magician. It blew my mind in middle school, and it still does.

4- The Smallville episode where Clark leaves his prom date to save Lana in a tornado.

5- The Wishbone episode where he plays Hercules - the special effects were so good! I was truly convinced that the cute little dog was a demigod from Greek mythology by the end of the episode.

6- The Buffy Musical_? I haven't actually seen it, but I'm sure if I did it would be my favorite show EVER.

  12. Anne the Pirate of Literary Theory

    9 March 2006 08:37pm UTC

    1-The X Files, "Bad Blood"

2-Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the one with the Gentlemen, where like half the episode is silent. I don't remember what it's called.

3-Star Trek: TNG "Best of Both Worlds" That better be the one with the Borg, of I'm a bad Trekkie.

4-Coupling (the British version), "The Man With Two Legs" or "Naked"...crap. I can't decide. If you haven't seen this, please do. It will make you a better person.

5-The Simpsons where Bart drinks the super squishee. It was the first one I ever saw, so I have sentimental attachments.

6-And I'm putting in a second vote for the pilot of Invader Zim.
"Is it meant to be stupid?"
    "It's not stupid...it's advaaanced."
