Scruffy Six Twenty Two: In the car
A lot of my posts have had a similar feel as of late. I.E. they have all been about unrest and uncontent. But I have decided to switch things up. You know what we haven't had in a while? A Scruffy six! Seeing as how much driving I have had lately, I think a driving themed scruffy six is in order.
- Do you like driving.
- What kind of car do you like driving?
- Where is your favorite place to drive?
- What is your favorite thing to do on road trips?
- If you could plan a road trip anywhere where would it be?
- If you had to pick one person to drive you around for the rest of your life, who would it be?

1. i like driving a lot, but i despise all that is associated with it: burning gas, not walking, not using public transportation, being in houston, car insurance, parking, etc.
2. i like driving very little cars that efficient. i really ones with rear windows that go all the way down.
3. i like driving at night on two lane roadways that are completely dark except for my headlights, which i usually turn down to the parking lights (assuming no one is around)
4. making playlists! everything music! i also like roadtrips because they allow me the time to think (note that i have not taken a road trip with anyone in a long time, yet i've driven an absurdly large amount alone)
5. from southern california up the coast to alaska. and it would take me close to six years.
6. there are a few requirements i generally have for a person who drives me around. in certain situations, these requirements vanish. in others, i have a hard time thinking about anything else. the basic ones are: seatbelts for everyone (be stern), absolutely zero booze, let me pick the music, A/C if over 40mph, windows down under 40mph, drive defensively, if you see a red light, don't accelerate until right before it, don't be a murning rignal- USE YOUR TURNING SIGNAL!, and so forth. there are probably only six people that get my full approval. i think you know who you are.
what about you?! you've been doing so much driving lately. what's your favorite stuff been about it?

1. Do you like driving.
Yes.
2. What kind of car do you like driving?
Well, my favorite car to drive is my car. But if I can't do that then a stick shift.
3. Where is your favorite place to drive?
Apparently, Utah. there is never anyone there. So driving is easy breezy. As a side note, my favorite time to drive is night. Basically, I just like driving where there is no one else on the road. I also want to be either going faster than everyone on the road, or slower than everyone on the road.
4. What is your favorite thing to do on road trips?
Sleep. And then second is sing along to music.
5. If you could plan a road trip anywhere where would it be?
I kind of want to drive to the southern tip of South America.
6. If you had to pick one person to drive you around for the rest of your life, who would it be?
I think Weird Al would make a pretty fun chauffeur.

I also really like the state of mind I get in when I am on long road trips. You start thinking about something and the miles just fly by.
And I really cannot over emphasize how much I like driving at night. I love driving into the black. That is until I get spooked. And then I am pretty miserable.

1. No
2. Stick shift
3. Home
4. Sing along to music and play car games
5. I don't really like to travel... Although, road trips area a lot of fun (as long as I don't have to do too much driving!). The best road trips are when you are going to visit someone, rather than just seeing the sights.
6. I have no idea!

1. Do you like driving?
Usually, sometimes I don't. Sitting in traffic when it's 105 degrees and your car doesn't have A/C isn't much fun.
2. What kind of car do you like driving?
I like race cars, or relatively sporty street cars. I do not like automatic transmissions, and I haven't driven a car yet with power steering that I liked.
3. Where is your favorite place to drive?
I liked the windy back roads around Portland, especially the ones up in the Forest Park area.
A couple weeks ago I drove a Spec Racer Ford around a private race track in the hills just north of Aspen, it's hard to beat that.
4. What is your favorite thing to do on road trips?
I don't mind just staring out the window on the interesting bits of the trip, like I-70 through the rockies. Once you get to the boring stuff, like I-70 through western Kansas, then it's nice to have a laptop with some pictures on it that need to be sorted through or something.
I probably wouldn't mind driving, so far I've never been on a road trip over a couple hours that I did any of the driving.
5. If you could plan a road trip anywhere where would it be?
I don't know. One of my coworkers did a motorcycle trip from here to Alaska, a motorcycle trip like that would probably be fun.
6. If you had to pick one person to drive you around for the rest of your life, who would it be?
I don't know.

1. I like driving a lot. Mainly because I normally feel really uncomfortable and sometimes terrified when other people drive, especially if they're driving my car. (I don't normally get these feelings with anyone who is a member of the scruffy pirate, but I will say there have been times with some of you...Benji).
2. I really like driving my new car (for those who don't know it's a 2005 Toyota Scion Xa). It's a lot of fun to drive and a stick shift which I haven't driven in a few years. It's also the newest car I've ever driven in my entire life so that in itself is pretty exciting. My family was never into having very nice cars...then again we lived in VT where no one has a nice car.
3. I really like driving away from cities into the mountains and wilderness. I love the scenery out west especially because it's so different from home to me, so really I like driving anywhere out here, but the mountains hold a special place in my heart because they're what brought me out here in the first place (and a lot of financial aid).
4. I really enjoy the being with other people on road trips and the conversations and experiences a group has together on a road trip. I also like coming up with new games to play and sleeping.
5. Now that I have a reliable fully functional car that I'm not worried will die on me driving three miles to work I've started to think of all the places I'd love to take a road trip to. I think first would have to be Utah because I still haven't been there except to fly through Salt Lake City. I also think it would be really cool to drive up the West coast starting in like San Diego or even further south and going all the way to Alaska. Lastly I'm really excited for my road trip out east next summer when I move to Atlanta. I've seen more of Europe than the U.S. so I'm excited to see the dirty south and all that stuff. I'm beginning to plan what route I'll take to get there.
6. I don't want anyone to drive me around, I'm too critical of other people's driving.

well crap...I forgot to delete the questions the first time I posted and stopped it but apparently it still went through...oh well, now we have two really long posts that are exactly the same. And Benji, I do like talking about my driving habits, I just work 4 jobs and haven't had time to post till now.

Do you like driving?
Driving for me is like being a passenger in an airplane, especially if I'm on a long roadtrip. I start to imagine different ways the car will inevitably crash. So, I consider driving probably the most dangerous and exciting thing I do. Mainly because my life is boring.
What kind of car do you like to drive?
My favorite car to drive is the Smartcar we have at work. It's neat and fun. Plus, it's got boogie!
Where is your favorite place to drive?
Any state on my roadtrip back to Arkansas. So CO, KS, OK. Kansas used to be my least favorite but the last two times I've driven through it, there have been some pretty bangin' thunder storms. And I love driving through storms! Hydroplaning is always a rush.
What is your favorite thing to do on roadtrips?
I daydream a lot on roadtrips, and then I make a soundtrack for them with my IPod. So, I have these perfectly crafted little short films playing in my head for about 15 hours straight. Sometimes it's swerve inducing.
If you could plan a roadtrip anywhere where would it be?
The Western Coast of Africa. But, not the whole coast. Probably Senegal to Liberia.
If you could pick one person to drive you around for the rest of your life who would it be?
Sarah Silverman, because she's very attractive.

1. Do you like driving?
Sometimes, people in Portland can't drive worth shit and well, I haven't really driven anywhere else.
2. What kind of car do you like driving?
Something smaller than my parents car, it is a boat!
3. Where is your favorite place to drive?
I don't know, I like late at night because there is barely anyone else on the road and I don't have to worry about ass-holes on my tail or if I am going under the speed limit.
4. What is your favorite thing to do on road trips?
Sing-a-longs, although I have never actually DRIVEN on a road trip, just a passenger...
5. If you could plan a road trip anywhere where would it be?
Across the country, and most probably through the souther US, from California to Georgia (this is probably because this is the area I have little to no knowledge of and it would be the most intersting to me.)
6. If you had to pick one person to drive you around for the rest of your life, who would it be? It depends on the length of time spent in the car together as well as the destination and/or purpose of our drive together.

Benji, you said paragraphs are back, right? Well, I'm not going to code them, and we'll see what happens!
1. I love driving. Although I definitely get what Peter said about feeling kinda guilty about it.
2. I love driving Rosa, and it's actually kind of difficult for me to drive anything else. Other cars feel very strange, and are difficult to get used to.
3. Anywhere familiar. Barring that, somewhere with pleasant air.
4. Drive. If I can't be driving, reading aloud might be my first choice of activity. Maybe followed by a good game of Truth or Truth.
5. NYC. I don't know where Rosa would end up parked, but I'd be there for tapings of TDS and/or TCR.
6. Thinking about an answer to this question just about breaks my heart. I don't even know how to answer it. Kate, I suppose. Honestly, my very first thought was Benji. Anyone from tsp would be pretty awesome, though. I just don't know.

1. Do you like driving?
No.
2. What kind of car do you like driving?
My Giant OCR3 is faster than any measly car. At least in Downtown Denver.
3. Where is your favorite place to drive?
I had a lot of fun driving my '85 Subaru on the dirt road alongside the South Platte around Conifer when I was in high school. It was a really beat up old car, so I could skid out around turns, speed over washboard and slide off the road without any serious ramifications.
4. What is your favorite thing to do on road trips?
Sleep. Although truth or truth sounds pretty fun.
5. If you could plan a road trip anywhere where would it be?
Beijing to Everest (on my bike, of course). I met a guy who actually did this when I was in Tibet.
6. If you had to pick one person to drive you around for the rest of your life, who would it be?
Jesus. I bet he could drive on water.

1. I do not like driving much...sometimes it is nice to drive if I don't like the way someone else drives.
2.I also like driving sticks and the new thunderbird; cars with seat warmers.
3. My favorite place to drive is on Fort Carson or other dirt roads.
4. My favorite thing on road trips is listening to tapes at hyper speed, getting lost and getting flat tires.
5.I would like to go on a road trip to Canada.
6.This question is too difficult...
