The Great Experiment Oh Nine, part 8

Well, I think it is safe to say that I have fallen off the wagon on this one. My last post about the 'experiment' was April 9th. That is 5 months ago! Holy cow! (To the day, actually)

This last week has been particularly rough. I've been working hard on getting a project ready work-wise and I didn't go to bed until 6am every night. Now, I agree, at a certain point if you are going to bed at the same time every night then you are no longer 'staying up late'. But couple that with still attempting to maintain some semblance of a normal sleep schedule and it isn't enjoyable.

Further more, this week I haven't exercised once. The last time this happened was sometime before the experiment started. Seriously, this has been the first time I haven't done exercises of some sort during a week in over 9 months.

Is there any good news, you ask? And alas, my caring comrades, there isn't! Food-wise I did no better. I had maybe two meals a day. I had no vegetables. I had no fruit save a small granny smith apple. I did have some red vines and a bag of swedish fish, though!

Granted this week was and will be an atypical one. The deadline that I was working hard against was that I am leaving for my yearly September backpacking trip with my father on Monday. When I get back, I can work reasonable hours.

But let me tell you this week has been hell. I feel like shit. I tell you this not so that you'll pity me (you should) and not so that you will send me messages and emails and letters (you should) and not so that you'll bake me banana bread with Maureen Simmonds' recipe (you should) but because it is motivating. I want to get back into the ol' experiment!

So, expect some posts in the next couple of days (and then the after I get back from my trip) on this subject.

In the mean time I'm not going to wait another second to get back into the swing of things! I was reading about a man named Edward Rondthaler who recently died at the age of 104 (I have linked to him before) and the article actually says he "attributed his longevity to having taken cold showers daily since 1918".

[Yes, I realize we have talked about these (see the comments on that last one) before]

So, I am going to go take a cold shower right now! At 5:40am in the morning! (As you can see, even though I am not working now I still have a problem going to bed.) And unlike normal (where it is cold but not completely cold) the dial is going all the way to the right tonight! We'll see how that goes. Woo!

Oh and you know what else I am going to do? Do it with my eyes closed!

Well, I did it! And it was really cold! It was the kind of cold that made it hard to breath at first because there was a flutter in my throat. But I do feel invigorated!

Now I guess I am going to try and sleep some. I think I did this in the wrong order...
