Trip summary (of sorts)
So I just got back from the greatest road trip ever. I know that might not hold a lot of weight with some of you seeing as how I have never really gone on a road trip. Most of the times it is drive as fast as is legal as straight as is possible to where we want to get.
Anyway, my friend (and now coworker! isn't that weird to say?) was getting married in Connecticut so Kathleen and me drove out there and back together. I picked her up in Oklahoma and then we went through Arkansas, Texas, Liousiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Delaware, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Iowa before I dropped her off with some relatives.
Here is a list of my top five favorite things that we did, ordered chronologically.
- Visited an old plantation somewhere in Mississippi (I think). George Washington had visited there and told them not to cut down there oak tree. And there were these huge spiders. Absolutely massive I tell you!
- Courtney's wedding. This was totally the greatest wedding ever. The reception was at this place called lighthouse point. There was a carousel and the sun was setting, and best of all there was a big band. A full big band playing old standards. It was great. Kathleen and I got to dance quite a bit. We worked on our 'step, step, rock step.'
- Went to visit Jonathan on Nantucket. We got to go hang out on the beach (which for all the sand was actually a lot of fun), see some fun houses and eat some good food.
- Went to to visit Kristin at her lake house. I got to see Kristin and catch up with her. There was a lake (obviously) that we got to go swimming in and (get this!) Kayack! Kathleen and I went across the lake and back. It really made me want to take up canoeing.
- Visited Peter at his house in Chicago. I got to see where he was from, meet his brother and sister, and hang out with his mom.
I would tell you the lows from the trip but who wants to hear about that?
But the best part of the trip was getting to hang out with Kathleen. It had been over a year since I had seen her last, which, considering we have only know each other for about 3 years, is quite some time. 1/3 of our relationship! The picture I had of her had started to diverge from the reality, which caused some trouble sometimes. But we had a lot of fun the first week when it was just us and I wasn't working on websites and being distracted. Now it is sad to be apart because we were getting along so well. Which I guess is better than how spending 3 weeks in just the company of one person could hypothetically end.
Oh and we heard some great new jokes from Peter's family. If only I could remember any of them.

That's a long list of states, and I don't understand how you chose what order you were going to list them in.
Speaking of jokes, road trips, and you and Kathleen, I went on a short road trip with the formula team down to L.A. People started telling jokes that weren't very funny, then I used the two muffins in an oven joke, and it killed. If I'm not mistaken I got that from either you or Kathleen.

Isn't that joke the greatest? It is definitely in my top 5.
Though it is interesting that you say that the joke went over well, because I have been telling it lately, and I'll say the punch line and the whole room will do silent. It is so depressing.
It is nice to know that there are still people in this world that enjoy the muffin joke.

And I listed the states chronologically. But didn't repeat.

Ah I see. Maine to Ohio isnt normally possible in a car :)
I had a like three second pause after I told the muffin joke, then everyone started laughing. That might have been because it was like 1am and we had been on the road for 10 hours or something and everyone was tired. I think part of the trick is to do a kinda high pitched voice when you say 'Ah! A talking muffin!'
