Web development as a profession

So far I have been hired to do three web development jobs. I would only realistically think that one of those jobs was completed, and that is debatable. Basically what it comes down to is this: if I can't even finish my own web projects how can I expect to finish other people's?

I could maybe see it working where I have a small part of a larger project, because then all I would have to do is tinker, tinker and play some more with my own part. But I am never satisfied completely with anything I do, and I am easily side tracked. In addition to that, the more I learn and read about web development the more I realize what I don't know. I honestly couldn't recommend myself to anyone because I know I won't be able to do the job right.

I am a distractible perfectionist that lacks confidence.

Though, honestly, I could see myself doing web development as a profession. Most people aren't as particular about websites as I am, and I need to just accept that. And also realize that something is better than nothing. I could see myself doing websites because:

  1. I do it so much already.
  2. You can work from home.
  3. You get to choose your own hours.

Also, I can take web development jobs as the need arises. So, if I am ever running out of money and am desperate I could do it. Everyone knows someone that wants a cheap website. Basically my backup job might turn into my profession.

It would also be nicer if it was a more social activity. I do like interacting with people.

I would not want a job working at home. Sometime junior year at school I decided that I was going to do all school work at school, and that turned out to be a good decision. It's a lot easier to relax when you are at home if you don't ever bring work home with you I think.

Wow, that is exactly how I feel about web development jobs. The only difference between you and me as web developers, it seems, is that you actually know how to make websites.
