Worst. Apartment. Ever.
So, as most of you probably know, we moved into a new apartment in Aurora, CO this summer. This was a bit of a sad move because we were moving away from Boulder, CO, which is at the top of a short list of greatest cities ever. Seriously, it's the greatest ever!
This move was also exciting because this was the first time that I would really be able to call an apartment mine (well, technically mine and my wife's, but we're basically just a unit anyway). Before I was always sharing apartments with other people—which, don't get me wrong, was great, but this was just new and exciting!
In my own apartment I can hang out naked all day and no one can complain! Well, except the neighbors, I really should close the blinds first.
[Just kidding that has never happened.]
[I mean, the neighbors complaining part has never happend. As for the naked and blinds open part, well...]
[But I really should probably close the blinds first.]
[For you mature people that are reading this: just kidding, I'd never do something so silly.]
Anyway, I digress. The point is, I was very excited about this apartment.
Until something awful happened.
As I sit here, it is 41 degrees outside but 80 inside our apartment. We don't have the heat on at all, none of our heaters are doing anything (as proved by the touch test), yet it is cookin' in here. During the summer when it was 80 in the apartment, Keri would turn on the fan.
But 80 degrees when it is starting to get cold outside?!
This has me starting to worry. If this apartment takes away my favorite things about winter, I am not going to be happy. Those are of course A) bundling up and B) wool blankets! You don't need wool blankets when it's 80 degrees in the room!
I'm not sure what's going on, but somewhere, something in this building is generating too much heat, and it needs to stop!

Well, at least this has the advantage of allowing me to hang out naked in my apartment year round!

It's probably the hanging out naked that is generating all the heat.

Yeah 80 in the winter would suck. Last year we had the opposite problem, our heater broke so it was frigid for awhile. Ask your land lord what's up or get an air conditioner haha.

You could leave the windows open all the time, that's what my roommate and I have been doing in our dorm room.

I guess I should be bringing summer clothes for my upcoming visit. Of course, then we wouldn't be able to go outside the apartment!

Martha, you'll have to come prepared for all weather conditions!

I visited another friend in the Denver area, and his apartment was the same way. It was like 30 degrees outside, didn't have the heat on but it was still over 75 in the apartment.

Yeah, Keri's parents think we should file a maintenance request, but it seems a little strange to file a request saying that our apartment isn't cold enough.
We have taken to sleeping with the windows open, otherwise it is just too hot.
I suppose really there are worse problems to have with an apartment!
It does foil my plan of making our cats want to cuddle more by having it be so cold that they need either our body heat or each others body heat to stay warm. I guess maybe I'll just have to stick them in the fridge...

I don't know if the fridge is the best place for cuddling. Have you tried maybe the freezer?

I look forward to being there to investigate! Maybe we can find the vents and close them off. Or, is the heat coming from those baseboard heaters? It will be a good project for me.

Good luck finding some! We have no vents, and the baseboards are producing no heat. Beca suggested that maybe there is electrical heating in the ceiling which I can't confirm or deny. All I know is I haven't noticed a source of heat, and our thermostat is set as low as it can possibly go.
And, you're probably right Omer, that way if they get hungry they can have some ice cream!

I don't like the way these comments about the cats are going... NOT funny.

Omer is the one that brought up dead cats, I just wanted them to cuddle. Is that so bad?

Your problem is gonna be a downer in the summer.

After a long hot summer, I'd be miserable without the cold of winter. It's about 50 outside here, and I still haven't turned on my heater. I love it. Been sleeping like a stone. (Not to rub it in...)

It's official, this is crazy. October 31st and both windows are open and the fan is going, just like when it was the middle of July!
And Satchel, yeah, it was definitely a hot summer, but that's okay because it was summer. Basically, I like my summers hot and my winters cold.
I'm with you Peon, I love the cold!

Sorry, Keri, I meant Dead Cat Brand Ice Cream, which makes ice cream flavored with cat food.
