State of the Art - With a Private MiFi Hot Spot, Be Online Wherever You Like - NYTimes.com
This looks amazing. My dream of not having a cellphone could come true. This thing and a jail broken iPhone (and thus Skype) would allow you to talk to anyone anywhere AND have internet anywhere. Sounds pretty sweet to me.
(Though that 5GB limit per month would be problematic)

wait... wouldn't you have a cellphone if you had "this thing and a jailbroken iPhone"?
and i'm a bit confused. if the MiFi is using 3g, couldn't you just use a tethered iPhone? or is that what you meant when you said jailbroken...
(also, i have skype already on my iPhone...)
either way, that's amazing that it's so small. and i'd probably prefer having that and my iPhone, such that i could control battery use a bit better (i don't like using my iPhone for too much... i feel paralyzed and naked when the battery is low)

Good points Peetie! I guess this is more of a big deal for me because I am on Verizon and can't use an iPhone currently.
But can you share an iphone internet connection with multiple other computers? Like can you set up a wireless station?

not exactly, but you can create a wireless network on your laptop. you could use the iphone's connection via tethering, and then use your laptop to broadcast a wireless signal to other computers. it would be horrible though, i imagine. and right now, iphone tethering requires a jailbreak (though people have rumored to be able to do it without jailbreak)
